Happy-Go-Lucky

Published by zackyg under Film Reviews Edit This

Every once in a while there is a little film that gets made that never really gets heard of, and never makes an appearance on the big screen, BUT is a wonderful treat to find. The story is original and fresh, the actors are new faces yet very talented, nad the dialogue always seems be quirky and surreal. These are the hidden gems, the overlooked sparkle amongst the blockbuster glamor. My most recent find is Happy-Go-Lucky.

“A look at a few chapters in the life of Poppy, a cheery, colorful, North London schoolteacher whose optimism tends to exasperate those around her. “

The film is bright and whimsical. The characters are quirky and odd and very interesting. The dialogue is completely fresh and original and hilarious. You get swept away into these peoples lives, wishing you were a part of it. There are many moments where individuality and optimism are questioned and put to the test. This films touches on some very good thoughts about life and who we are and who we are letting ourselves become.

As all films, there are moments that are unnecessary and distract from the main purpose of the film, and this film is no exception. But I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it for sure. “Stay happy!”
