Random Thoughts…

Published by zackyg at 10:10 pm under Movie Talk Edit This

I do not have too much to say tonight. Actually that is a lie, I have more than enough, but my mind is not able to focus it all long enough to write something worth reading. So I will spare you the work of trying to piece together a poorly thought out film review and just give you some random thoughts on my mind. I saw The Day The Earth Stood Still tonight and I have a review brewing. Let me chew on it for a night and I will let you know my thoughts on the subject tomorrow.

As I walked through the movie theater on my way to the bathroom, I walked past many people. All of them were there to see something. They paid money to be there, and they were giving up around two hours (more with travel time) to sit and listen as someone else tells them a story. That is just amazing. I couldnt help but tear up at the thought that someday people would be listening to my stories.

“going to the movies is bizarre. Hundreds of strangers sit in a blackened room, elbow to elbow, for two or more hours. They don’t go to the toilet or get a smoke. Instead, they stare wide-eyed at a screen, investing more uninterrupted concentration than they give to work, paying money to suffer emotions they’d do anything to avoid in life.” -Robert McKee (Story)
